6th Annual Drug & Alcohol Professionals Conference
This year's annual conference, in association with Drink & Drugs News, will take place on 13 January 2009 at the Royal Institute of British Architects, Central London. Plenary topics include: the new drug strategy and evaluation of the first drug strategy; working with families; young drinkers and implications for policy; getting people into employment; the Independent Safeguarding Authority and implications for our field; and diversity & inequality at work. While a series of workshops and seminars will cover a range of issues, including: khat, ketamine and cannabis; diversity and dual diagnosis; prescribing interventions; and staff training & development. Alcohol our Favourite Drug: from Chemistry to Culture. Conference, 26-27 February 2009 organised by The Royal Society of Edinburgh, 22-26 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2PQ, UK. Exploring the fields of genetics, neurochemistry, and psychology through to the current hedonistic social culture, this unique conference aims to look closely at the psychoactive and addictive nature of alcohol, and how its influence in these fields interplay from molecular to societal levels. Speakers include Professor Gunter Schumann, Professor Robin Room and Dr Fiona Measham.
