The Alcohol Concern Staff Team

The Management Team consists of the Chief Executive, the Director of Policy and Services and the Director of Resources.

The Chief Executive is responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the organisation and for ensuring that Alcohol Concern is on track to meet its strategic aims and objectives. He is also responsible for liaising with government and other key bodies and for making sure that the expertise and views of alcohol agencies are taken into account in national policy-making.

The Directors play a pivotal role in developing and promoting policy on alcohol-related matters and in ensuring that this both draws upon, and feeds into, on-going operational work. The Director of Policy and Services takes responsibility for the development, review and promotion of all policy relating to the provision of services and oversees the work of the Services Development Team and the Training Unit. This Director works with the Chief Executive to develop and review alcohol-related policies which impact upon the general public and also oversees the work of the Information and Communications Team. The Director of Resources has responsibility for the smooth running of the organisation's finances, ICT and membership.

The Information and Communications Team acts as the public face of Alcohol Concern, providing information to professionals and the public on alcohol misuse. The Team is responsible for producing Alcohol Concern's magazine Straight Talk, managing the website and our publications. It also operates a public email enquiry service.

Media and Public Affairs provides information and comment to the media. Responsible for our campaign work and supports Alcohol Concern's parliamentary activities.

The Services Team runs a number of projects to improve the help available to people and their families with alcohol related problems. This includes supporting alcohol treatment services and the NHS by providing guidance, sharing and promoting best practice and developing quality standards.

The Business Development Unit provides a range of consultancy and training services designed and delivered by experts in the field. Consultancy services are available to investigate and advise on measures to tackle alcohol related harm, for example, by supporting PCTs and Local Authorities in carrying out Alcohol Needs Assessments, Local Alcohol Impact Studies and developing Local Alcohol Strategies. A range of training packages are also available on topics such as Alcohol Awareness, Brief Interventions and Alcohol and Young People.

The Resources Team provides the administrative backup essential for the organisation's operation. It provides administrative support to the Chief Executive and Directors, is responsible for conference administration, personnel, reception and managing the organisation's finances.
