8Author: Alcohol ConcernTackling alcohol-fuelled disorder

Wednesday 9th June 2005

Srabani Sen, Chief Executive of Alcohol Concern said ?It is encouraging that the Government accepts the need for a balanced approach to reducing alcohol-fuelled disorder which includes enforcement action and support for individuals. Previously their response has focussed on enforcement and has failed to make the link between crime and health, with the result that alcohol services - which could make a significant contribution to the solution - have remained chronically under-funded. We look forward to seeing how this balance will be achieved

It is vital that the proposed Violent Crime Reduction Bill takes on board the recommendations of the Committee.?
