Alcohol Concern responds to new Department of Health figures revealing an increase in consumption among school aged pupils who drink.
For Immediate Release
Friday 31st August
Srabani Sen, Chief Executive of Alcohol Concern, said:
â??We welcome the news that the total number of school aged children who drink regularly appears to be declining. However the fact remains that those young people who are drinking are doing so in ever greater quantities . Given the potentially damaging impact of alcohol misuse on the young it is vital to develop a package of co-ordinated policies that encompass education, law enforcement, and support for young people to make them aware of the risks of alcohol misuse and so transition to moderate enjoyment in adulthood".
