Budget tax increase on cider rescinded

Last month's budget tax rise for cider has been rescinded in the run up to the general election.
In last month's budget, the government announced a 10% above inflation rise in duty on ciders which would have brought them into line with other alcoholic drinks. However, following opposition to the move (and the limited time available to pass other legislation before the general election), ministers have rescinded their proposals. Read more .
