Our project work
Alcohol Concern develops and manages projects that build the capacity of the sector, encourage good practice in the field and create and promote better solutions to tackle alcohol problems.
Undertaking project work allows Alcohol Concern to do more in-depth research and investigation of specific issues or population groups as well as leading on evidence based policy development.
Presently Alcohol Concern manages four projects that are focused on:
- families and domestic violence (Embrace)
- database of practice (Hub of Commissioned Alcohol Projects and Policies [HubCAPP])
- peer support (SMART Recovery)
- young people (Youth policy project)
Alcohol Concern also has a dedicated office in Wales:
Information on each of the individual projects is available on the project pages.
Previous projects run by Alcohol Concern have included parenting; education and prevention; peer education in prisons; networking distant neighbours and alcohol training for youth workers.
Alcohol Concern fundraises for project work that is central to our aims and objectives. The funding for our projects comes from a variety of organisations including Big Lottery Fund; Comic Relief; Tudor Trust and Department of Health. We acknowledge and thank these funders for enabling Alcohol Concern to do this more in-depth work.
