Alcohol Concern General Election Manifesto 2010
Alcohol Concern called on MPs and candidates in the general election to support alcohol treatment services in their local constituencies by calling for a national alcohol treatment target and for the government to provide a funding boost for alcohol services.
Launching our election manifesto Alcohol Concern said that there was a clear lack of support in many parts of the country for people with alcohol problems particularly for older drinkers, people with alcohol and mental health problems, BME groups and younger drinkers.
We also called on the government to see alcohol misuse as a public health issue as important and urgent as smoking, obesity and drugs misuse and to set a target to reduce harmful drinking in the same way that it does for other major health harms.

Minimum price
Alcohol Concern is campaigning for a minimum price of 50p per unit of alcohol. We're part of a growing number of academics, health organisations and policy makers who are listening to the evidence that taking action on price reduces alcohol-related harms.

Labelling
Alcohol Concern wants to see better information available to the public about alcohol and its health effects. Consumers have the right to information and safe drinking guidelines on all alcoholic products, giving them the chance to make healthy choices.
Read more in our policy report, 'Message on a bottle: does the public have enough information about what they are drinking?' and see our policy section on labelling.
