CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Salary £80,000 per annum + pension
Alcohol Concern is the leading national charity working on alcohol issues. Our goal is to improve people’s lives through reducing the harm caused by alcohol. We have an ambitious long-term aim to change the drinking culture in this country. We want to live in a world where people can manage the risks and make sense of alcohol.
Alcohol Concern works at a national level to influence alcohol policy and champion best practice locally. We support professionals and organisations by providing expertise, information and guidance. We are a challenging voice to the drinks industry and promote public awareness of alcohol issues.
About the role
We are now seeking to appoint a full time Chief Executive to drive the charity forward and push forward key fundraising and campaigning initiatives.
The Chief Executive will provide effective leadership in order to build on Alcohol Concern’s reputation and successes, working closely with the Board to achieve strategic objectives, and build a firm foundation for Alcohol Concern’s future. The Chief Executive will have a particular focus on fundraising through engaging external supporters and funders, developing existing relationships and identifying new opportunities for income generation to support Alcohol Concern’s work.
We are seeking a dynamic, motivated leader and a confident media performer who will lead Alcohol Concern’s campaign to shape public policy, building the profile of Alcohol Concern within government and other relevant national bodies including the alcohol treatment sector.
You will have a proven track record of income generation and significant senior management experience. With excellent relationship and interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships you will motivate your team in order to ensure that the charity’s objectives are met.
You will have proven financial skills sufficient to interrogate, understand and interpret financial information and a thorough knowledge and understanding of the framework and regulatory context for charities, companies and the role of Trustees. You will have excellent knowledge of the roles of central and local government, social services, health and education and the voluntary sector.
