The staff team

The Management Team consists of the Chief Executive, the Director of Policy and Communications and the Director of Resources.

The Chief Executive is responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the organisation and for ensuring that Alcohol Concern is on track to meet its strategic aims and objectives. The Chief Executive is also responsible for liaising with government and other key bodies and for making sure that the expertise and views of alcohol agencies are taken into account in national policy-making.

The Directors play a pivotal role in developing and promoting policy on alcohol-related matters and in ensuring that this both draws upon, and feeds into, on-going operational work. The Director of Policy and Communications takes responsibility for the development, review and promotion of all policy and oversees the work of the Projects Team and the Information Unit and is responsible for membership.  The Director of Resources has responsibility for the smooth running of the organisation's finances, human resources, and information and communications technology.

The Information and Communications Team provides information to our members and stakeholders as well as to the public.  The Team is responsible for producing Alcohol Concern's magazine Straight Talk, and our monthly e-newsletter - Alcohol Concern News - as well as managing the website and our publications.

Alcohol Concern Cymru opened its office in Cardiff in August 2009. Alcohol Concern Cymru is focusing on policy and public health in Wales, acting as a champion for alcohol harm reduction. We will bring together key stakeholders, highlight public health concerns in relation to alcohol harm in Wales, and develop recommendations on alcohol policy.

The Business Development Unit provides a range of training and consultancy services designed and delivered by experts in the field. Consultancy services are available to investigate and advise on measures to tackle alcohol related harm, for example, by supporting PCTs and Local Authorities in carrying out Alcohol Needs Assessments, Local Alcohol Impact Studies and developing Local Alcohol Strategies. A range of training packages are available on topics such as Alcohol Awareness, Brief Interventions and Alcohol and Young People.

The Resources Team provides the administrative support for the organisation's operations. It provides administrative support to the Chief Executive and Directors and Company Secretarial support for Trustees.  The team is responsible for managing the organisation's finances, facilities management including administration of the office reception, administration of human resources, membership administration and the maintenance of IT systems and provision of IT support to staff.
