In loving Memory
Welcome to Alcohol Concern’s In-Memory page, which help us to honour, understand and remember those who we’ve lost to alcohol.
Losing someone close is always a heart-breaking experience. But losing someone to alcohol can make the grieving process more difficult.
This is a safe space to remember your loved one or discuss issues with others also bereaved by alcohol. To keep your privacy other page in the in memory section are a login in only facility.
The in memory section has three fundamental ideas.
This is a space to show the lives and achievements of people who were so much more than their problems with alcohol. They’re all someone’s daughter or son, and loved, and deserve to be thought of as such.
This is to do away with the taboo and innuendo of discussing alcohol. It’s not something to be swept under the carpet, it’s to be confronted and analysed. Many people go through life with an alcohol problem in secret. Many of the people at such a “high functioning” person’s funeral may remain oblivious to the fact that it was alcohol that attributed to their death. The truth is 1.6million people in the UK today are alcohol dependent, and seeing the issues laid out in black and white might be just the push someone needs to address their own drinking.
Mostly this is a permanent tribute to that loved one. Somewhere to share memories, to act as a tribute to all that they accomplished. No one is ever “just a drink problem”, and these stories prove that.
These pages brought to you by the charity Alcohol Concern also allow people to make donations to support our work in memory of those whose passing was linked to alcohol.
We picture a world without alcohol harm, and your kindness can help us to make this a reality.
